DRAFT HORSE CLINICS
& DEMONSTRATIONS...
Horse Chiropractic Demonstration, November 4th,
4:00 p.m.
Each
year at the California Draft Horse and Equipment
Sale changes are made in the demonstrations and
clinics made available to our buyers and
consignors for both educational and recreational
purposes. This year it is an honor and a
privilege to have Cindy Hamill, a well known
horse chiropractor, speak at the sale. She will
be covering three main topics: chiropractic and
what it can do for your animal, her chiropractic
techniques and common problems addressed by
chiropractic care. A short question and answer
time will follow each topic. We are excited to
have Cindy on board for our Fall Sale and we
think you will really enjoy the demonstration.
Following is a short introduction to Cindy
Hamill.
Hi, I’m Cindy Hamill and I am a chiropractor. I
grew up on a dairy farm in Wisconsin riding
horses and was involved in rodeo from Little
Britches through college. I came to California
after college to ride horses for a local horse
trainer, Benny Guitron. Turns out, riding all
day, six days a week can take the fun out of it,
at least for me. I decided to go back to school
and become a chiropractor. It only seemed
natural to me to tie together the two things
very important to me – horses and chiropractic.
I have been adjusting horses and people since
having graduated in 2003. Currently, I have an
office in Merced where I see people two days a
week, and I work with horses three days a week.
I have had the opportunity to work with all
kinds of horses, ponies, drafts, mules and the
occasional show steer. It has truly been a very
rewarding way of life.

Coonjumping Demonstration, November 4th, 6:00 p.m.
In
the midwest the good ole boys would go out on a
raccoon hunt, the dogs would be turned loose and
their mules and horses would take chase. The
mules were best as they could jump, without the
rider, over barbwire fences. The rider would
take off his jacket; this would cue the mule it
was ok to jump. One of the good ole boys would
brag about how high his mule could jump, and the
contest was on. The mules would be brought up to
the jump and stopped, then the mule would jump
from a flat foot position. If the back feet or
belly rubs the jump, it is a fault. Remember,
this is a barbwire fence they are jumping. Susan
Barlow and her mule Apache Fog, Lisa Marie
Miller and White Lightning and Anna Arnold with
Ciera are all world champion coon jumping mules.
They have all won at Bishop Mule Days. They are
going to see how high these mules will jump
today.
Anna Arnold and her mule Ciera travel over the
U.S. to mule shows and have won many halter and
performance championships. Ciera has over
150,000 miles in the trailer. Anna writes for
the Mules and More magazine out of Bland, MO,
her byline is Granny’s Adventures.
